# Gridfinity Generator

> Gridfinity Generator is a browser-based 3D CAD tool for designing custom Gridfinity boxes/bins, baseplates, fitted cutouts, and connection clips, then exporting them for 3D printing.

Gridfinity Generator provides an interactive 3D editor with real-time previews. Core editing and export work without an account; accounts add cloud saving, reusable model libraries, and collections for arranging multiple models.

Use "box" as the primary product term; "bin" is an alternate route for the same tool. A cutout is a fitted cavity made by subtracting an imported STL from a solid box, not a parametric grid of holes.

Supported model types and capabilities:

- Box: configure dimensions, stacking lip, magnets, screw holes, wall thickness, and add or position walls, scoops, and ledges.
- Baseplate: configure grid dimensions, magnets, screw holes, unit size, and connectable edges.
- Cutout: import one or more STL files, then position, rotate, and scale them to create fitted cavities.
- Connection clip: generate tolerance-adjustable clips for connectable baseplates.
- Collections: group saved models, set workspace bounds, and arrange models on a shared Gridfinity grid.
- Export: STL, STEP, and GLB for boxes, baseplates, and connection clips; STL and GLB for cutouts. 3MF is not supported.
- Grid units: standard dimensions are 42 mm in X and Y and 7 mm in Z. Custom unit sizes are supported but may not remain compatible with standard Gridfinity parts.
- Languages: English, German, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, and Ukrainian.
